Take a journey back in time to the 1800s, when Sri Lanka was part of the British Empire, and Colombo was an important commercial hub. Discover the origins of one of Colombo’s most iconic colonial era landmarks, the Galle Face Hotel. Learn how the property, which was once a seaside Dutch villa, evolved into one of the most sough after hotels in Asia.

Upon your arrival, you will meet your host, who is the resident historian of the hotel. You will then start exploring this historic hotel, passing through its many hallways and rooms, including the famous traveler’s bar and museum. Listen to stories of days gone by, and be entertained by anecdotes of many prominent personalities who have passed through the doors of the hotel over the years. You will also have the opportunity to view some of the historic photographs and paintings which are housed in the hotel. Upon concluding the tour, you will be served either a tasteful afternoon high tea or a scrumptious lunch, depending on the time of day.

Siddique: With over 25 years of experience in the hospitality industry, Siddique believes in reaching heights in life, being passionate, focused & exceeding customer expectations.

Being a part of Galle Face Hotel for the past 11 years it is only natural that Siddique was named the resident historian of the hotel. He is a great story teller who now brings the rich story of Galle Face to light from 1864 to the present.


Chaaya: Chaya has an energetic personality and is a self motivated individual who has great passion about the Galle Face Hotel. She has served in the hotel for the past 10 years. As the assistant historian of the hotel Chaya is always curious about anything historic. She loves interacting with clients to share her experience, stories and the many secrets that are associated with the Galle Face Hotel.
