Sensory Indulgences | COVID-19 Operational Guideline Policy

As a professional experiences provider Sensory Indulgences considers the health and safety of our client’s paramount. We also firmly believe that we need to collectively mitigate the risk of our hosts, stake holders and local communities whilst operating experiences during a pandemic. This operational guideline policy was created after scrupulously studying global operational guidelines set by the World Health Organization and World Travel and Tourism Council, as well as the local operational guidelines set by the Sri Lanka Tourist Board. As a result, our policy takes a 360 degree approach in setting responsibilities for our hosts, us as an organizations and also our valuable Destination Management Company partners. Thus enabling our valuable clients to discover their story with an assurance of health and safety during their time in Sri Lanka.

COVID-19 Operational Responsibilities for Sensory Indulgences Hosts:

 

  • Hosts agree to conduct a self-temperature check prior to operating all experiences. If the temperature is above 37.4 Celsius and/ or if they are showing signs of cough, runny nose, sneezing or sore throat the hosts will refrain from operating an experience.
  • Hosts will ensure to wear an industry standard face mask at all times.
  • The hosts will sanitize his/her hands and footwear on a regular basis whilst operating the experience.
  • All hosts will adhere to basic personal hygiene standards at all times.
  • Host will carry a spray bottle of sanitizer with him/her at all times, which can be used to sanitize hands, footwear and commonly touched surfaces at any given point. This is also available for use by the clients.
  • The host agrees to maintain a distance of 1.5 meters from the clients at all times.
  • The hosts will ensure to wear clean, professional clothes and footwear at all times.
  • The hosts will always check the client’s PCR test report before conducting any experience.
  • The host is empowered to avoid any area, attraction or institution provided that it holds a risk to the health and safety of the clients.
  • The host will refuse to operate an experience if any of the clients joining the experience are showing COVID-19 related symptoms. In this case they are to report this to Sensory Indulgences immediately.
  • The host will refuse to operate an experience if the client’s guide. driver, helper etc are showing COVID-19 related symptoms. Hosts are expected to report this to Sensory Indulgences immediately.
  • The host will not involve any other party during an experience unless without the prior approval of Sensory Indulgences.
  • The host will strictly review if third party individuals are adhering to the safety precautions at tourist sites, restaurants, bars, public galleries, shops etc.
  • If using any locally hired taxis eg: roadside tuk tuks, the hosts will ensure that the seating spaces and holding bars etc are properly sanitized. On top of this they will ensure not to mix families with other parties to limit the number of seating per vehicle maintaining physical distancing.
  • If you are a host associated to a cooking class or mixology class you will ensure that you are wearing a hairnet on top of the standard mask. If applicable wearing gloves will also be necessary.
  • If you are operating a cooking class or mixology class your kitchenware, Tupperware, dishes, bowls, cups, glasses etc must be washed clean using disinfectant liquid soap.
  • If you are operating a cooking class or mixology class your raw ingredients are to be properly cleaned and washed.
  • If you are operating a cooking class or mixology class your kitchen utensils, cutlery must be sterilized as per the guidelines issued by the Sri Lanka Tourist Board.
  • Hosts will ensure that there is non queueing at washrooms, ticket counters, museums, galleries, sites and any other public or private institutions that the clients will visit as a part of the experience.

COVID-19 Operational Responsibilities for Sensory Indulgences:

 

  • Sensory Indulgences will provide hosts with necessary guidelines in accordance with the Sri Lanka Tourist board standards to adhere to when operating experiences.
  • Sensory Indulgences will provide a set of branded masks, sanitizer sprays and if applicable, wet wipes, paper serviettes, hairnets, gloves to the hosts. This is expected to be used only when running experiences for Sensory Indulgences.
  • Sensory Indulgences will ensure that Tour Operators/ Travel Agents strictly follow the guidelines issued to them by the Sri Lanka Tourist Board (Chapter 6) when sending clients to Sensory Indulgences.
  • Sensory Indulgences will review all restaurants, bars, cafes, galleries and other public spaces associated with experiences, to ensure that they adhere to the health and safety guidelines provided by the Sri Lanka Tourist Board. (Chapter 5)
  • Sensory Indulgences will review all methods of transport (vans, tuk tuks, bikes, double decker buses etc) provided by them to ensure that they adhere to the health and safety guidelines provided by the Sri Lanka Tourist Board. (Chapter 3)
  • Sensory Indulgences will obtain all the prior approvals from the necessary local authorities to operate experiences.
  • Sensory Indulgences will act with the best interest of both the clients and the hosts health and safety in mind.
  • Sensory Indulgences will not consciously expose their hosts to any risk of contracting the COVID-19 virus.
  • Sensory Indulgences will always try to avoid operating experiences in areas with large crowds or public gatherings. This includes local communities as well.
  • If any hosts report in any suspected case of COVID-19, Sensory Indulgences is obliged to report it to the relevant local authorities after consulting with the relevant tour operator/ travel agency, if applicable.
  • Sensory Indulgences will train their staff, hosts and stake holders on handling clients whilst adhering to health and safety protocols set by the Sri Lanka Tourist Board.
  • Sensory Indulgences will strive to only work with tourist board approved restaurants, bars, suppliers and registered, recognized organizations when operating experiences.

COVID-19 Operational Guidelines for Destination Management Companies:

 

  • To strictly adhere to the guidelines provided by the Sri Lanka Tourist Board for Tour Operators and Travel Operators. (Chapter 6)
  • Where applicable to strictly adhere to the guidelines provided by the Sri Lanka Tourist Board for Airport Transfers and Travel Options withing the Country (Chapter 3)
  • To clearly communicate the aforesaid guidelines to their clients and foreign TO/TAs and ensure they adhere to the same.
  • To consciously avoid exposing Sensory Indulgences and their hosts to any risk of contracting the COVID-19 virus.
  • To refrain from sending clients who are having COVID-19 related symptoms on experiences.
  • To refrain from sending guides, drivers and helpers who are having COVID-19 related symptoms on experiences.
  • To provide passenger info to Sensory Indulgences including their name, originating country, passport details, travel itinerary on request.
  • To ensure clients carry their PCR test certificate/ report at all times.
  • DMCs will ensure to brief their clients to adhere to personal hygiene standards and always carry their personal protective equipment (gloves, masks, sanitizer) with them during experiences.
