Explore a hidden kingdom right in the capital city of Colombo, long forgotten but still existent. The Kingdom of Kotte although not popularly spoken about, played a pivotal part in shaping the political landscape of Sri Lanka leading to the island’s colonization. Our journey will be on two wheels (mountain bikes) with a host who will make the story of the kingdom of Kotte come to life with tales of love, deceit, humor and political coups.
You will meet your host at a central location in Kotte, where he will give you a small brief of the experience including health and safety, before we start the bike ride. We will cycle mainly through residential areas, avoiding the main road visiting a few archeological sites and learning about the stories that surround them. We will also encounter a few species of birds as there is a protected bird sanctuary close by. Our adventure will conclude at the Kotte Museum, learning about future preservation and excavations plans for this ancient kingdom.
